Above is the final piece of my Kangaroo composition. This was more of a development than a collection of drafts. After placing the artwork on the scenery, I added shading around the edge to emphasize the illusion of the sunrise (an iconic subject of scenery to Australia) and to emphasize the female cautiously looking on the males boxing over her, I put a tree over her to make it appear like she's keeping out of the way. This not only made it look more realistic, but created more dimension and foreground to the piece.
Between these two, you can see on the left is where I added the shading as opposed to the one on the right. Here, it's also hard to distinguish foreground from background and the tree over the female, along with downsizing the males, created dimension and depth which I was pleased with.
